COVID brought a lot of restrictions for support people (family, friends, doulas, etc.) in being present at office visits, L&D, and hospital visits for mothers and babies. How did/has these restrictions exacerbated challenges in advocacy for black maternal health?

As future doctor's, what additional work/care can we provide while we treat our black patients in clinic?also can you provide us with advice on how we can minimize implicit bias within our work team (nurses, techs, peers etc.)?

Jeanine.... just like I said.... I tell my Asian patients that I want to know where they're from... I make sure that I'm a huge listening for my patients... If I see someone struggling with English, I pull out Google Translate or the video translator... I sit down. I move closer... look for where we are the same!!

Agreed. if all signs are pointing to something being wrong, do not take it lightly. Whether it is their first pregnancy or not. Their history of a miscarriage should not be the history needed for them to be seen as high risk.
